Since its founding year in 1858, Biscottificio Antonio Mattei has never left its historic store in the center of Prato. Starting with the production of dry almond cookies, Mattei's specialties soon rose to fame, reaching tables and living rooms throughout Italy. Further confirmation of the quality of Biscottificio Antonio Mattei's offerings came in the 1960s, a period when Prato, at the height of the Italian miracle, became one of Europe's most important industrial districts. In those years, the Biscottificio, which passed to the Pandolfini family, perfected the processing of its products to make unique products. Today, with management entrusted to the fourth generation, Biscottificio Antonio Mattei keeps the link with tradition intact, and continues to hand-package Biscotti di Prato in traditional blue envelopes.
